From the splendour and natural wonder of the Ruthven mansion, to the destitute fields of mud in the Somme, to the healing hospitals of Britain, From Ruthven to Passchendaele commemorates the 100 year anniversary of World War I with a touching, vividly realized portrait of Canadian bravery and sacrifice.

From Ruthven to Passchendaele debuted at Ruthven Park National Historic Site on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2012. 13 large rod puppets, clad in historic costumes, tell the story of the Thompson family of Ruthven Park in Cayuga, and their contributions in WWI as part of the 114th Battalion, Brock's Rangers, in the Canadian Expeditionary Force (C.E.F.). The play centres on M.P. Andrew T. Thompson, his wife Violet, and their three children, Drew, Walter and Peggy. Scenes from the Ruthven mansion, the trenches of Passchendaele and the hospitals of London are presented, with our signature style of table-top and shadow puppets.

From Ruthven to Passchendaele was made possible through the generous support received from Veterans Affairs Canada's Community Engagement Partnership Fund.
